Girl Scouts will organize WOAW events to earn the new Aerospace Adventure Badge

Girl Scout Aerospace Adventure Badge - Tulsa

The Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma have teamed up with Tulsa International Airport to launch a new patch program called “Aerospace Adventure.”

To earn the coveted Aerospace Adventure Badge, the girls (grade 6-12), the girls will help Brownie troops earn their Fling Flyer badges, research aerospace careers and the women who shaped the industry to create posters or display to share their findings, and organize an event to celebrate Women Of Aviation Worldwide Week.

“Girls can Google a lot of things, but it’s really that personal, one-on-one time that I think is going to be important to their decision as to whether or not this is a path they want to go,” said Alexis Higgins, the CEO of the Tulsa International Airport.

“That’s one of the things that this patch can do, is to help to remove those barriers to women getting into the aviation career field early enough,” said SueAnn Alexander, an airline Captain and an ex girl scout.

With this initiative, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma also hope to inspire girl scout groups across the United States and beyond to create similar badges. Their Aerospace Adventure Program guide is available for download.
